You can find the Victorian walnut
cylinder secretary’s here in Ohio
every once in awhile, HOWEVER it is
getting harder and harder to find
these two piece cylinder bookcase
secretary desk as you will see in
the photos below. This is solid oak
with a wonderful burl Chestnut
barrel roll. It has lots of nice
router carvings throughout. The
crown board is usually missing on
these when we find them. The top
crown board is original and has a
nice look to it. This piece retains
all of its original finish.
This piece towers 92 ½ inches tall, or 7 foot 8 ½ inches. The base is 22
inches front to back and is
approximately 44 inches wide. It is
made approximately during the
Victorian time of the 1870-80’s. The
fancy crown board on top is 44
inches wide and 7 inches tall. The
crown molding is 41 ½ inches wide
and 13 ¼ inches front to back. The
bookcase doors both are 19 inches
wide, 36 inches tall. There are 4
shelf areas, 3 are removable and
adjustable, about every 2 ½ inches.
The shelves are 36 inches wide and 9
inches front to back. This roll is
34 inches wide and 15 inches on a
curve. The inside cubby hole drawer
is 10 inches wide and 7 ½ inches
front to back and 1 5/8 inches deep.
As you can see in one of the photos
below, this has a pullout extendable
writing surface. When it is fully
pulled out, it is 34 inches wide and
17 inches front to back. The 3
drawers in the base area are 34
inches wide, 13 ¾ inches front to
back and have depths of 4 and 7
inches deep. All drawers have the
original brass pulls.
