This is an extremely rare to find
Minerva Head with Ormulu Brass
Rosewood Empire Blanket Chest! This
is true to the time period of the
1860’s. We think it’s rare to find
this with all the original brass
still intact. Yes at one point in
time someone has installed a thin
layer of cedar on the inside. We
feel that this is a plus because yes
it smells good! If you can see the
close up photo of the foot above…
yes the glass coasters are original
and probably made of a sandwich type
glass. Oops yes the bottom drawer
will open!LOTS OF SPACE ON THE
INTERIOR!! Of course when you find a
Empire Rosewood piece it is usually
veneered such as this Blanket Chest.
There are a few minor chips and
flakes that have been repaired over
the years but nothing really worth
talking about due to the rarity of
this fine item!
We forgot to get a photo of the
drawer open however this drawer is
46 inches wide, 17 inches front to
back and 5 inches deep. The outside
of this is 54 inches wide, 24 inches
front to back and stands 32 inches
tall.
