1820-30s RALPH HOLT DUNCAN PHYFE 20 PANE
BOOKCASE DESK
Great old wavy glass! Please see a couple of the
last photos below and this is very noticeable,
especially the one that is reflecting the clouds
in the sky. Each door has a total of 10 panes of
glass. Around the harp area, these are
individual panes as well to make again a total
of 10 panes per door. We date this around the
1820-30’s but this could be a tad older! THIS
HAS THE ORIGINAL MAKER’S NAME IN THE BACK CENTER
OF THE BOOKCASE (See photo below). This is made
by Ralph Holt and states Cabinets Mahogany Chair
& Sofa Manufacturers. IT’S RARE TO FIND AN
ORIGINAL LABEL!! This Mahogany and flame burl
Mahogany Secretary Bookcase Desk is a 2 piece
unit, so that one can easily transport this from
room to room.
This is 88 inches tall, 47 ½ inches wide and 25
¼ inches front to back at the base area. Each
bookcase door is 23 inches wide and 42 inches
tall. The center drawer is 18 inches wide, 11 ½
inches front to back and 2 ¼ inches deep. The
left and right drawers measure the same and they
are 13 inches wide. When the writing surface
folds over it is 47 ½ inches wide x 16 ½ inches
front to back. When this folds over it will rest
on 2 original pull out supports that are
original to this cabinet. The large drawer is 39
inches wide, 18 ½ inches front to back and 3 ¾
inches deep.
