This is a wonderful 2 piece Eastlake
but also Victorian era 1870-80’s
Walnut and burl Bookcase Cylinder
Secretary Desk. Yes the crownboard
is a little darker but not too bad.
This was probably used in a lower
ceiling home and the crownboard was
probably in the closet for many
years. Yes this can be lightened up
with a little bit of elbow grease
and some Murphy’s Oil Soap.
Please excuse the white dots on the
writing surface… this is due to the
fact it just started to spit snow
here in Ohio when we were taking the
photos.
This is 97 ½ inches tall with the
crownboard. Without the crownboard
this is 90 ½ inches tall, 38 inches
wide and 24 inches front to back.
The top 2 doors are 19 inches wide
and 39 ½ inches tall. There are 4
shelf areas and 3 are removable and
adjustable and are 35 1/ 2inches
wide and 10 ¾ inches front to back.
The burl roll is double paneled and
has wonderful burl walnut insets!
The roll is 34 inches wide and 16
inches on a curve. The 2 cubby hole
drawers are 8 inches wide, 8 ¼
inches front to back and 1 ¾ inches
deep. When the writing surface is
pulled out this becomes 33 ½ inches
wide and 19 inches front to back.
THIS HAS THE WELL THOUGHT AFTER
WASHSTAND BASE DUE TO THE DOOR! This
door measures 16 ½ x 16 ½ inches.
Behind this door you will find as
you can see in the photo above a
nice shaped and cut file cabinet
dividing slots or system. The top
drawer is 34 inches wide, 15 ¾
inches front to back and 4 ½ inches
deep. The 2 remaining smaller
drawers are 16 ½ inches wide, 15 ¾
inches front to back and both are 7
¼ inches deep.
