This is a 1860-70’s solid Walnut Doctor
Instruments and/or Bottle Display Cabinet. Just
imagine this setting in a office full of those
Antique Bottles and Instruments such as a
surgical amputation kit, etc. However this piece
has many uses… such as a China Cabinet,
Collection Cabinet, etc. This is a 2 piece unit
and also has a wonderful old oxidized back (see
photo below). As you can see the sides have 2
panes of glass each, so in other words, this
cabinet has a total of 8 panes in the top area.
This one is not too big and not too small! Due
to the size, the previous owner said yes this
was used in a early Doctors office in the
1800’s. Due to the commercial made part, we find
this to be held true because of the larger
hinges and the brass ringed latch at the bottom.
Please also take notice of the Burl type Walnut
panel in the left side door (it’s neat)! The
shelves do adjust about every inch on a saw
tooth cut out (see photo below).
This is 71 ¾ inches tall, 35 inches wide and the
base is 17 ¾ inches front to back. The top
section is 9 ¾ inches front to back. The 2 top
doors are 36 ¾ inches tall and 14 ¾ inches wide.
The 2 bottom doors are 14 ¾ inches wide and 23 ½
inches tall. I just took notice of the glass in
the top… many of the panels are the old wavy
glass!
